If so, consider a career in plumbing technology.

Plumbers install fixtures, valves and pipes and repair water, waste disposal, drainage, and gas systems in homes, commercial and industrial buildings.

In your classes you will focus on projects such as the maintenance of common fixtures and the complete installation of a plumbing system using tools and materials that will give you practical experience in the plumbing field.

You will learn about all types of pipes and fittings, plumbing fixtures, soldering as applied to plumbing, repair and service, septic tanks and disposal systems, water systems, hoisting and scaffolding, drawing as applied to plumbing, tools and equipment and plumbing laws, rules and codes.

Courses Offered

The plumbing and pipe-fitting program offer excellent practice and interesting lectures that will quickly turn you into a professional.

Progression is contingent upon achievement of a grade of “C” or better in each plumbing and blueprint reading course and maintenance of a 2.0 grade point average or better.

The student needs to pass a written test with 80% accuracy and a 3-part performance test.

You will also be assisted with finding the best apprenticeship program and the best jobs.

Courses Offered

Installing water supply and waste disposal systems in residential, commercial, and highly complex industrial sites is the focus of the plumbing program.

In addition to practical experiences, instruction is given in laws and codes, blueprint reading, drawing, special equipment and other related areas.

The diploma for Plumbing Technology will earn you one year of work experience towards your Journeyman Plumber license, but you must first contact your program coordinator to initiate a request with the KY Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction on your behalf for that credit.

The state of Kentucky requires two years of work experience to be eligible to become a Journeyman Plumber.
